Tom Brady out for
the season, Patriots odds down the drain
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will miss the
rest of the season, after the knee injury sustained in the
opener against the Chiefs, it was reported on Monday. Brady was
hit by Kansas City safety Bernard Pollard in the first quarter
of a 17-10 victory over the Chiefs in the Patriots opening game
and New England confirmed Monday that the quarterback and 2007
MVP is out for the season and in need of a surgery. "As a
team we all just have to do our jobs. That really doesn't
change. He played one position, he played it very well. We have
somebody else playing that position now," New England
Patriots coach Bill Belichick was quoted. Matt Cassel will
replace Tom Brady at the QB position.
The news of the season ending injury of
Tom Brady sent the bookmakers in a limbo as they scrambled last
night to pull out and adjust NFL betting odds. Even this morning
we were not able to find an online sportsbook offering future
odds on the Patriots, but the big story in the betting circles
is the NFL Week 2 game Patriots @ Jets. At the online bookmaker
BodogLife the New England Patriots, 16-0 last regular season,
are now listed underdog against the New York Jets, who are
building up steam thanks to Brett Favre. In a move considered
impossible before the NFL season start, the sportsbook has made
the Jets favorite -2.5 points against the spread in the upcoming
Sunday football game. Money lines are not available at this
time, but Patriots underdog odds to win are guaranteed, judging
from the spread.
