Matt Millen fired
as Detroit Lions president
The Detroit Lions president Matt Millen has been fired
today, after the football team went 0-3 in the regular season,
according to reports initiated by Fox Sports, without naming
sources. According to the reports, Matt Millen was told of the
football franchise decision on Tuesday night and was clearing
his office today. The firing of Millen comes just two days after
Detroit Lions Vice Chairman William Clay Ford Jr. told reporters
that the president should leave his post, adding that he would
personally fire Millen, if it was up to him. At this time no
official report has come out from the Lions relating to Millen's
possible termination.
Matt Millen, who has been with the Lions
for seven years, since 2001, has driven the football team to the
worst record among the 32, going for 31-84 during his
employment. Lions fans have long called for Matt Millen's
resignation (or termination), especially after the Detroit Lions
went for a perfect preseason and 0-3 in the regular. The Lions,
who are in their bye week, remain one of the underdogs to win
the Super Bowl this year with the whopping +40000 odds at
Bookmaker.
