Derby County vs. Southampton: Who won the
Championship semi-final?
The winner of the Championship play-off
semi-final was Derby County winning the second leg after penalty
shoot-out 4-3 pen., 2-3 reg. time.
Both teams displayed a lot of courage and will to win. The
excitement in the match started early, first with a goal by
Darren Moore for Derby in the third minute. It took Southampton
less than two minutes to bring the tension back to maximum
level. Jhon Viafara scored an equalizer for Southampton in the
fourth minute of the game. A few dangerous attacks followed from
each side, but the first half finished 1-1, very clean, with no bookings on either team.

In the second half Jhon Viafara was good for Soton at the 54th
for 1-2. But 10 minutes later Leon Best with an own goal brought

foot helped Southampton take the lead again and extra times was
necessary to get a winner out of this game. During the extra
time Derby seemed to have taken control of the game, but no
score during the extra time by either team. Penalties had to be
shot, as the first leg between Southampton and Derby County
finished 1-2.
Derby County won the penalties 4-3
and continues ahead.
