Royal Ascot Gold
Cup contenders and betting odds
Two days left to one of the
big June events at the Ascot Racecourse - the Ascot Gold-Cup.
Sixteen
four-year-old and above thoroughbreds will run the distance of 2
miles 4 furlongs on Thursday 21st at the Ascot Racecourse. The
Ascot Gold Cup is one of the legs in the Stayers' Triple Crown
and will be viewed by millions all over the world.
We checked with the U.K. online
sportsbooks to see which one offers the best betting odds on the
Ascot Gold Cup and the British website
Bet365 (click to open) is the
leader. The oddsmaker's favorite to win the 2007 Ascot Gold Cup
is "Yeats", the same horse which won the last year's
competition.
"Yeats" was foaled on April 23, 2001 at
Derrinstown Stud, and is owned by John Magnier. In 2004 Yeats
was favourite for the Epsom Derby, but met with a setback just
days before the race and missed the rest of the season. At the
2006 Ascot Gold Cup Yeats won by 4 lengths from Prix du Cadran
winner Reefscape. It is yet unknown who will ride Yeats for the
2007 Ascot Gold Cup. The betting odds on Yeats are 4/6.
Here is the full list of the Royal Ascot
Gold Cup contenders on Thursday with the odds on winning the
race:
Yeats 4/6
Sergeant Cecil 5/1
Geordieland 11/1
Montare 14/1
