Dan Patrick
leaving ESPN
After 18 years with the ESPN,
Dan Patrick announced today on his radio show, that he will be
leaving the TV.
The
reason Dan Patrick gave today on his radio-show for leaving
ESPN, after 18 years of work, was simply - he started to take
his job for granted. Patrick said that his initial plan was to
come out with the announcement last week, but ESPN executives
asked him to reconsider. Which he did and the decision stays -
his final ESPN show will be on August 17th.
Patrick hopes to continue to work in the
radio, but he wasn't sure if television is something he would
consider for his future. "If there was animosity, I wouldn't be
doing radio shows after this one today," he said, addressing
rumors of problems with the network.
Patrick recently hosted "NBA Countdown"
on ABC, and the network's game broadcasts, including the NBA
finals. He was also a Sports-Center anchor from 1989-2006.
Hosting his own radio-show, "The Dan Patrick Show" on ESPN
Radio, since 1999, Dan Patrick was honored as National
Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and
Sportswriters Association in 2000.
