Don Imus settles
with CBS, comeback in the works
Don Imus has reached a
settlement with the CBS over his contract and a comeback is
possible.
Don Imus have settled his breach-of-contract dispute with
the CBS. After he was fired from his morning show, following his
controversial comments about the women’s basketball team at
Rutgers University, Don Imus threatened to sue CBS for $120
million over his recently signed 5-year $40 million contract
with the network.
A joint statement of Imus and CBS
announced today that both parties have managed to reach a
settlement, details of which will not be made public.
The settlement is not a surprise, as the
lawyer of Don Imus, Martin Garbus, has found a loophole in the
contract, in which CBS acknowledged that his services were
“unique, extraordinary, irreverent, intellectual, topical,
controversial.”
Citing unnamed sources, reports in the
media claim that besides the settlement with the CBS, Don Imus
is taking steps to make a comeback with WABC, radio-station
employing personalities such as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.
The reports for Imus comeback have not been confirmed by his
lawyer or the radio station.
Imus was fired on April 12th 2007 after
calling the Rutgers women's basketball team as "nappy-headed hos"
on his show.
