Marco Materazzi
provoked Zinedine Zidane at the World Cup
In his autobiography, Italian
international Marco Materazzi admits calling Zidane's sister a
whore, provoking the head-butt at the World Cup 2006.
Why did Zinedine Zidane hit the Italian player Marco
Materazzi during the 2006 World Cup final between France and
Italy? Many viewers all over the world were shocked to see
Zidane hitting Materazzi, costing the French a red card at what
was the final game for the football legend. Now Marco has come
out to settle the speculation admitting he told Zidane: "I
prefer the whore that is your sister," according to the Italian
media. Italy won the game on penalties, after 1-1 in regular
time.
According to Materazzi, he explains the
incident in his autobiography, which is scheduled for release at
the end of the month. Until the book is on the shelves, however,
the footballer declined to comment the incident in details,
simply saying that he had already apologized to Zinedine Zidane
for calling his sister a whore. In the past Materazzi has hinted
that a verbal exchange between him and Zidane had something to
do with Zidane's sister, but the actual wording of the feud has
never been revealed before.
