Carolina Panthers signed
Marquand Manuel and Dante Wesley, release Michael Gaines after
injury settlement.
The
former starting tight end Michael Gaines was released by the
Carolina Panthers, following an injury settlement on Tuesday.
Michael Gaines was placed on the injured reserve on Saturday,
but the four-year pro opted out for an injury settlement and
will look to play for another football team. The 27-year-old
tight end was drafted by the Panthers in 2004, in the seventh
round from UCF.

Meanwhile the Panthers strengthened the
secondary by signing safety Marquand Manuel and cornerback Dante
Wesley.
Marquand Manuel signed with the Panthers
as a free agent, after he was released by the Green Bay Packers.
Manuel, 28, was originally drafted out of the University of
Florida in 2002 by the Cincinnati Bengals. Big significance is
given to the signing of Marquand Manuel, who is now the most
experience safety of the Carolina Panthers.
Dante Wesley is well known to the
Carolina's fans, he made his NFL debut with the Panthers in 2002
after they drafted him in the fourth round out of the University
of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Wesley played with the Panthers until
2005, when he signed a 2-year deal with the Chicago Bears.
Wesley was acquired by the Patriots for an undisclosed draft
pick in the 2008 NFL Draft and was later released to be snatched
by the Carolina Panthers.
