Fernando Alonso takes pole, Raikkonen OK after crash
Kimi Raikkonen crashes at
200mph, Fernando Alonso takes pole position followed by Lewis
Hamilton for the start of the Italian Grand Prix.
Kimi Raikkonen escaped unhurt the awful crash on Saturday,
during the Italian Grand Prix qualifiers. The Ferrari driver hit
a tire wall during the final F1 practice, the car completely
destroyed on impact, but Raikkonen was able to get out of the
Ferrari without any assistance and walk back to the pit. The
reason for the accident remains unknown. The crash left Kimi
Raikkonen at fifth starting position for the Formula 1 race
tomorrow.
Meanwhile Fernando Alonso (McLaren) took the
pole position with less than a second ahead of teammate Lewis
Hamilton, who will start second at the Italian Grand Prix on
Sunday. Felipe Massa was third, followed by Nick Heidfeld with
BMW.
The Italian Grand Prix will start on Sunday at
2:00 pm local time. Fernando Alonso remains the favorite to win
the race with odds 1/2 by the British online bookmaker
Bet365, followed by Lewis
Hamilton at 5/2 and Felipe Massa listed at 6/1. Odds on the Kimi
Raikkonen to win the Italian Grand Prix are 12/1.
