Wake Forest allowed the Cornhuskers to slip through for a 20-17 defeat at home.

College Football: Nebraska defeats Wake Forest 20-17 Sam Keller threw for 258 yards and a touchdown, completing 24-of-41 passes for Nebraska (2-0) to for the Cornhuskers 20-17 victory over the Demon Deacons on Saturday. Wake Forest had 17-13 lead in the third quarter less than 10 minutes into the 3rd, but two minutes later Marlon Lucky rushed for a 22 yards touchdown to give back Nebraska the lead.

 The Cornhuskers managed to hold on to the 20-17 score until the end of the game. Wake Forest had the opportunity to at least tie the score in the fourth quarter, when John Russell intercepted the pass at the Nebraska 10, but Nebraska took the ball back three plays later, after Zackary Bowman had a critical interception in the end zone with 6:05 on the clock. Last chance for Wake Forest, when Ben Eisenhart seemed to intercept Hodges' third-down pass near midfield, but after a replay the officials reversed the ruling.

 Brett Hodges was 12 for 24 for 140 yards with two interceptions in his first start for Wake Forest, who did significantly better than last week, but signed a second lost this football season.

 Nebraska entered the game favorite to win with odds -380, compared to the odds on Wake Forest to win the game at +290 by the online oddsmaker Bodog Sports.
