American Idol Results: Danny voted off, American Idol final top 2

The weeks of drama on the 2009 American Idol are inching closer to the end with the finale, after tonight's results were announced, Danny was voted off, while Adam and Kris are going to battle in the American Idol Final. With 88 million votes cast tonight the final results of the American Idol top 3 put Danny Gokey on the short end - he was voted off to clear the way for always-favorite Adam Lambert and Kris Allen to face off for the 2009 American Idol glory.

The Wednesday American Idol results did come as a bit of a surprise for both critics and odds makers alike. We have been following the odds on the 2009 American Idol throughout the season as posted at the online bookmaker Bodog Sports, and there was no surprise that Adam Lambert was favorite to win the American Idol at 5/18, once again, before the results were announced. But the underdog earlier today was Kris Allen, who was sitting on long odds 5/1 to win the talent competition, while Danny Gokey was holding better odds 4/1 to win the Idol. Unfortunately for Danny, he did not find enough support in the 88 million votes cast tonight and the subsequent calculation of the American Idol results - and was voted off.

Thus after the American Idol results were announced tonight and now we know that Danny was voted off the show, the final 2 on the Idol are Adam and Kris. And judging from the odds from earlier today, Adam Lambert is likely to come out a strong favorite at Bodog Sports to win the 2009 American Idol. Where the supporters of Danny will turn could be the finale-deciding question, but if you like a good underdog story, now is the time to take a look at Kris Allen.
