Steelers Ben
Roethlisberger accused of rape by casino host
The
quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Ben Roethlisberger, has
been named in a lawsuit by a casino host, claiming the football
player raped her last year. According to the latest reports, a
woman is claiming that the quarterback for the Steelers sexually
assaulted her last July and is seeking a minimum of $440,000 in
damages from the QB. The lawsuit claims that Ben Roethlisberger
raped the woman last year, while she was working as a casino
host at the Harrah's casino in Lake Tahoe.
According to the lawsuit the woman first
met Roethlisberger during a casino tournament the day before the
alleged sexual assault occurred. The woman claims that the next
day, when she went to Ben Roethlisberger's casino hotel room to
follow on a complain from the NFL star that his TV does not work
Roethlisberger forced her on his bed and raped her. The woman is
seeking damages from both the Steelers quarterback and from
Harrah's Casino. She also claims that she did not file criminal
complaint, afraid that the casino management would side with the
NFL player and would fire her.
David Cornwell, the lawyer representing
Ben Roethlisberger in the alleged rape case, is firm that his
client did not rape the woman. "Ben has never sexually
assaulted anyone. The timing of the lawsuit and the absence of a
criminal complaint and a criminal investigation are the most
compelling evidence of the absence of any criminal conduct. If
an investigation is commenced, Ben will cooperate fully and Ben
will be fully exonerated," Cornwell was quoted.
