Atlantic City's
Sands Casino implosion set for October
The Sands Casino Hotel will be
the first casino implosion in Atlantic City, scheduled for
October 18th.
The
dice will be rolled one last time for Sands Casino Hotel in
Atlantic City on October 18th. At 9:30pm the casino will be
brought down via an implosion - the first casino implosion in
Atlantic City and the first night-time one for the state.
Fireworks and light show will precede the demolition of the
casino and the governor is expected to make an appearance before
the event. Everything seems to be carefully planed for the
implosion of the Sands Casino Hotel. The date and time
correspond to the lowest traffic numbers in the city, a safety
perimeter will be set up for viewing of the implosion and the
demolition will happen no matter the weather, although personnel
is hoping for a light rain to keep the dust down.
Pinnacle Atlantic City is planning a new
$1.5 to $2 billion casino on the former Sands Casino Hotel site.
The new casino is scheduled to open doors in 2011, but at this
time Pinnacle is not yet saying what it will call the new casino
or what it will look like.
