Dolphins trade
Chris Chambers to the Chargers for a D-pick
The Miami Dolphins have traded
WR Chris Chambers to the Sand Diego Chargers for a 2008 draft
pick.
What
started initially as a rumor has turned into a reality - it was
confirmed that the Miami Dolphins (0-6) have traded wide
receiver Chris Chambers to the San Diego Chargers (3-3) in
exchange for a 2008 second-round draft pick. In a statement
Dolphins GM Dolphins Randy Mueller was quoted at the Dolphins
website saying "This trade will give some of our younger
players at that position, such as Ted Ginn and Derek Hagan, more
of an opportunity this year. Chris did everything we asked of
him and represented this organization in a first-class manner.
We wish him and his family the best of luck in San Diego."
Chargers are still playing without their top receiver Eric
Parker, who broke a toe in June and a surgery followed in
August.
Chris Chambers, 29, was picked by the
Dolphins in the 2001 draft from Wisconsin in the second round
(52 overall). He is signed with Miami until 2009 and will still
have to pay Chambers about $3.8 in bonuses. This season Chambers
has caught 31 passes for 415 total yards.
