Week 9 football spread:
Redskins vs. Jets, Denver at Detroit
Point spread and betting
preview of the Week 9 football games Washington Redskins vs. New
York Jets and Denver Broncos vs. Detroit Lions.
On
Sunday the badly beaten Washington Redskins (4-3) will
play the New York Jets (1-7) and we have have found some
numbers you don't want to miss. At
Bookmaker the Redskins are
naturally the favorite to win the game with odds -200 and the
Jets are dog at +170. But what you don't want to miss is the
point spread on the Washington Redskins vs. NY Jets
currently sitting at only -3.5 points chalk the Redskins.
Washington is 1-3-1 against the spread in its last 5 games and
the NY Jets are 0-5 against the spread in their last 5 games.
Washington was badly bruised last week by
the Patriots 7-52 and the shame will make them beat the Jets by
at least 10 points. Whether you agree or not that the Pats are
running the score doesn't matter, the Redskins will do anything
to prove that they don't stink offensively and defensively. The
Jets are on their five-game losing streak and have opted to
substitute quarterback Chad Pennington for Kellen Clemens, but
how successful this move will be is yet to be seen. Jet's wide
receiver Laveranues Coles missed practice yesterday and DE Mike
Devito and DT Dewayne Robertson did a limited one. Full
Wednesday practice in New York had DE C.J. Mosley and safeties
Abram Elam and Eric Smith. At Washington only tight end Todd
Yoder was limited on Wednesday. Overall, the Washington Redskins
should cover the -3.5 point spread, winning the game by 10 or 14
points.
Let's move to Michigan where the Detroit
Lions (5-2) will welcome the Denver Broncos (3-4) for
a Week 9 football game. The Lions may have surprised many
experts with their 5-2 record, but not us, they were part of our
Week 8
football picks last week to
win. But the sportsbooks continue to underestimate the Lions. At
Bookmaker the Lions are listed
with odds on winning the Week 9 football game at -145 and the
Broncos are +125. But the point spread on the Denver Broncos
vs. Detroit Lions game is currently favoring the Lions only
-2.5 points, total at 46 points. Betting trends indicate that
Denver is 1-8 against the spread in its last 9 games and Detroit
is 6-2-1 ATS in its last 9 games.
The Broncos lost 19-13 to the Packers last
week and the Lions won on the road against the Bears to continue
their push towards the playoffs. With the Lions - it's all about
team work and quarterback Jon Kitna, although without a
touchdown pass since Week 4, has been able to motivate and guide
the team to work smooth and keep piling up the victories.
Broncos will come with their seventh ranked offense in the
league, but the rest of the stats find Denver towards the bottom
of the NFL. Both teams have statistical chance of winning the
Week 9 football game, but the Lions are more motivated, getting
their first chance in a long time to reach playoffs. Overall,
the Lions will beat the Broncos by 3 points.
