New York Giants
vs. Detroit Lions: Point spread, odds and preview
In-depth look into the Week 11
football game between the New York Giants and the Detroit Lions,
including point spread, odds and betting trends.
When
the New York Giants (6-3) visit the Detroit Lions
(6-3) on Sunday, the game could be described in only one way - a
must win. Both teams hold the exact same second spot in their
respective divisions, the Giants trailing to the Cowboys in the
NFC East and the Lions behind the Packers in the NFC North. And
both teams are coming out of loses, the NY Giants failing to
bank on the home field advantage against the Cowboys, losing
31-20, and the Detroit Lions had a disappointing performance at
Arizona, losing 21-31 to the Cardinals. But the bookies are
siding this week with the Giants and at the online sportsbook
Bodog
Sports the point spread on the New York Giants vs.
Detroit Lions game is currently sitting at -3 points chalk
the visitors from New York. The gambling website
Bookmaker is also betting on
the Giants, making them the favorite to win with odds -160 and
the Lions - underdog with odds +140. Betting trends indicate
that NY Giants are 5-2 against the spread in their last 7 games
and Detroit is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games.
Statistically the New York Giants are
leading the Detroit Lions when it comes to defense with only
299.1 yards allowed per game, compared to Detroit's 354.7 yards
allowed on average. But the Lions have been riding this season
on their strong and nimble defense, which did most of the work
for their unexpected 6-3 record so far. Even in the last week's
game against the Cardinals, the defense did an excellent job
giving the ball to the offense, but Kitna and Co. failed to
capitalize. Offensively both teams match well, Detroit with
328.8 yards par game and the Giants with 330.2 yards. The Lions
play comfortable at home, which could help the offense post up
some points on Sunday and the game between the Giants and the
Lions is open field, although we will go with the Detroit Lions,
as we have all season.
Detroit's quarterback Jon Kitna, wide
receiver Calvin Johnson, running back Jon Bradley and cornerback
Fernando Bryant have all been upgraded to probable and will join
the team on Sunday. Lions DE Dewayne White is doubtful and DE
Ikaika Alama-Francis is still questionable. For the Giants wide
receiver Steve Smith and running back Derrick Ward are out for
Week 11 with injuries, another WR Plaxico Burress and LB Antonio
Pierce remain questionable for the game against the Detroit
Lions.
