Rafa Benitez -
Liverpool or England manager
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez
gets the most attention from the bookies for England job.
With
the uncertainty currently growing over Rafa Benitez' future at
Liverpool, William Hill have opened a book on who will succeed
him as permanent manager at the club and make Jose Mourinho 7/2
favourite. And Hills are offering 5/2 that Rafa will cease to be
Liverpool manager before the end of the season, although they
make him 2/7 to still be there then. Hills make Martin Jol 11/2
second favourite to succeed him, and also offer 6/1 Martin
O'Neill; 7/1 Fabio Capello; 7/1 Guus Hiddink; 8/1 Jurgen
Klinsmann; 14/1 Marcello Lippi. "The days when Liverpool
invariably promoted from within are long gone and were this job
to become available it would attract interest from all over
Europe," said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Menahiwle Rafa Benitez has been the best
backed candidate to get the England job since word of his
apparently fragile position at Liverpool became public, say
bookmakers William Hill who now make him 14/1 seventh favourite
to succeed Steve McClaren. Hills make Fabio Capello 2/1
favourite to be the next England head coach and also offer 4/1
Mourinho; 9/2 O'Neill; 8/1 Jurgen Klinsmann; Harry Redknapp; 9/1
Alan Shearer; 14/1 Benitez; 16/1 Stuart Pearce; Felipe Scolari.
"Benitez has been the subject of lively support for the job,
while Mourinho has been the best backed candidate overall and
Harry Redknapp clearly the punters' number one choice for an
English option" said Graham Sharpe. Hills offer 2/1 that an
Englishman will be appointed to the post, 4/11 a non English
candidate.
