Manchester United player Jonny
Evans was booked for questioning in an alleged rape at a
Manchester City hotel.

Evans, player for Manchester United and Northern Ireland, was
booked then bailed in alleged rape case. According to reports,
the Manchester City police was called on Tuesday morning to the
Great John Street Hotel, after a 26-year-old woman filed a
police report that she has been raped. The hotel was hosting a
private party attended by members of the Manchester United team,
as well as other guests. The Man Utd players had booked the
entire hotel for a Christmas party with dancers and models,
according to some publications in the British press. According
to Manchester Evening News, the call to the police came from the
boyfriend of the victim of the rape, and happened in one of the
hotel bedrooms.
Jonny Evans was arrested and questioned at
a police station in Manchester City, then released on bail until
February 23rd, when he was ordered to appear. Greater Manchester
Police issued a short statement: "A 19-year-old man was
arrested on suspicion of rape this evening after presenting
himself to police." Manchester United declined to comment on
the case.
