Mike Martz has confirmed to Detroit Free Press that he was fired from the Lions.

Detroit Lions fire Mike Martz after two years on the job Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz has been fired, the coach confirmed to the DFP. According to the latest reports, offensive line coach Jim Colleto has been promoted to the vacant offensive coordinator position, who in turn will be replaced by wide receivers coach Kippy Brown. Colleto will be named offensive coordinator and remain as the offensive line coach, while Brown is being promoted to assistant head coach and passing game coordinator, and will also serve as running backs coach. Martz's son, Tim Martz, was also fired from the offensive assistant position he held and will be replaced by Shawn Jefferson.

“The only thing I will tell you is, I came here because of Rod. Rod’s a terrific coach, a man of great character. We fell short of what we wanted to do offensively, and I regret that. Nonetheless, he’s going to be successful, and I wish he and the Lions all the best. My experience there was very positive," Mike Martz was quoted by the Detroit Free Press after he was released of duty. Speculations already send Martz to the San Francisco 49ers to replace offensive coordinator Jim Hostler.
