Miami
Dolphins hired on Wednesday the Dallas Cowboys assistant coach
Tony Sparano as their new head coach. According to the latest
reports, Sparano's contract with the Dolphins is four-year long
and will pay him around $2.5 million per year. The 46-year-old
Cowboys assistant head coach was offered the job by the new
Miami Dolphins boss Bill Parcells, with whom Tony Sparano worked
in the 2003-2006 period.
Tony Sparano, who also interviewed with the
Ravens and the Falcons, will replace the fired head coach Cam
Cameron, who spent only one season in Miami and "led" the team
to 1-15 record this season, Cameron's first year as NFL head
coach. Ironically, this will also be the first year Sparano is a
head coach in the league, although widely respected for his
offensive astuteness and his demeanor with the players. He
became available after the Giants upset Dallas in their Sunday
playoff game.
