MSNBC correspondent David
Shuster has been suspended over Chelsea Clinton "pimped-out"
remark.
MSNBC reporter David Shuster has been suspended by the
network, following the "pimped-out" comments he made about
Chelsea Clinton. The decision was made, after officials in
Hillary Clinton's camp raised the possibility of punishing the
network by pulling out of a planned debate in Cleveland. You can
watch the video segment below.
During a coverage of the presidential
race yesterday, while discussing the role Chelsea Clinton plays
in her mother's campaign, David Shuster asked "Doesn't it
seem as if Chelsea is sort of being pimped out in some weird
sort of way?" MSNBC announced today that it had temporarily
suspended anchor Shuster from all NBC news broadcasts, except to
offer his on-air apology for what he said about Chelsea Clinton.
"NBC News takes these matters seriously, and offers our
sincere regrets to the Clintons for the remarks," MSNBC
spokesman Jeremy Gaines said.
Shuster did apologize today, and was
quoted saying "All Americans should be proud of Chelsea
Clinton. And I am particularly sorry that my language diminished
the respect and regard she has earned from all of us and the
respect her parents deserve in how they raised her."
