Amy Winehouse
from jail to new man
One
can say it's been a bad week for Brit singer Amy Winehouse, who
not only visited a police station, but is now in a middle of a
cheating scandal. First the "good news" - Winehouse has been
just cautioned for common assault, spending the night in the
cells at Holborn Station in London. The 24-year-old singer was
questioned by police about an assault in north London on
Wednesday, after she agreed to attend the station voluntarily.
The caution means Amy Winehouse has not been charged, but the
incident will remain on the record and could count against her
if she is ever charged with a similar offence in future.
A spokesman for Winehouse said the following: "Amy Winehouse
was questioned this morning at a London police station in
connection to an incident in Camden in the early hours of 23
April, 2008. She admitted to a common assault by slapping a man
with an open hand and accepted a caution. Amy was fully
co-operative with inquiries and apologized for the incident. She
thanked the police for their professional handling of the
matter. There will be no further action taken. Amy is looking
forward to continuing her work on new music in the studio."
But the one-night-stand in jail was
quickly eclipsed, after News of The World reported that Amy
Winehouse had started a relationship with her manager’s
assistant, Alex Haines, 22, while her husband Blake
Fielder-Civil is sitting in jail. Haines stepfather claimed he
knew nothing about a relationship between Alex and Amy, but
Winehouse's father Mitch, who said he wants his daughter
committed to a psychiatric hospital, confirmed the relationship
and said he was shocked by it but suspected his daughter
initiated the courting. "I don’t like infidelity. But Alex
could be the victim in all this. I can’t imagine Alex seducing
Amy. He looks like Clark Kent. It was clearly the other way
round," he was quoted. And according to the Mirror, Amy
Winehouse's new lover is obsessed with becoming rich and famous
and the singer could prove the fast lane.
Meanwhile on Friday Blake Fielder-Civil
appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court in east London, where a
provisional trial date was set for him to face charges of
assault and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. He is
due to stand trial on June 2nd.
One thing Amy Winehouse can lean on -
according to the 2008 Sunday Times Rich List, the five-time
Grammy winner has amassed a £10 million fortune, putting her
tenth equal in the Young Music Millionaires category.
