Dancing with the
Stars: Cristian de la Fuente suffers injury
Cristian
de la Fuente was forced to leave “Dancing With the Stars” early
on Monday night, after suffering an injury during his second
dance for the evening. Monday was the first night the final six
"Dancing with the Stars" competitors had to do two dances in
just one show and while Cristian de la Fuente and partner Cheryl
Burke had no problem with their ballroom round Viennese waltz,
in the Latin round
de la Fuente showed signs of an injury early into the dance.
Cristián was seen grasping his arm, eventually falling on top of
Cheryl at the end of the routine, with a pained look on his
face. Later we found out that the injury was a pulled arm
muscle. Backstage the EMT diagnosed Cristián de la Fuenteas with
a severe muscle cramp and packed his arm in ice. He was later
taken to a hospital to make sure no further injuries were
missed.
Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke ended the evening
in last place at 46, with a 25 for the first number, the
Viennese waltz, and 21 for the samba. Despite the injury and the
low score, the odds makers at the online sportsbook
BodogSports refused to
downgrade Cristian de la Fuente to underdog, although he is now
listed with 20/1 odds to win Dancing with the Stars. Underdog is
still Marissa Jaret Winokur at 40/1, followed by Shannon
Elizabeth with odds 25/1. The Dancing with the Stars favorite
remains Kristi Yamaguchi at 2/5.
