David Archuleta's
dad, Jeff Archuleta, kicked off American Idol
Jeff Archuleta, father of American Idol hopeful David
Archuleta, has been banned from attending all the show's
rehearsals and lost his backstage pass, according to reports in
the media, citing an anonymous person close to the show.
According to that person, Jeff Archuleta has always been a
little too involved in the backstage's affairs of the American
Idol and it reached the tipping point on Tuesday, when Jeff
Archuleta insisted on changing "Stand by Me" (on of the songs
David Archuleta performed last time) by a verse from Sean
Kingston's "Beautiful Girls", thus incurring additional costs
for "American Idol". "I'm definitely involved with my son,
and I encourage him, but I think that's a lot different from
forcing and threatening and all that stuff. There was absolutely
no truth in any of the stories about me yelling at David, making
him cry or withholding water from him. That was crazy!" Jeff
Archuleta was quoted later, denying his American Idol backstage
privileges have been take away. Fox has not commented on the
incident yet. Old stories about David Archuleta and his dad have
begun popping up, most notably when Jeff Archuleta was called
"the monster dad from hell" by Naomi Judd, who was a judge on
"Star Search", where the then 12-year-old David took part.
American Idol is down to only three

Archuleta as the second favorite to win the Idol listed with
