Mancini, Hughes
and Scolari favourite for Chelsea manager job
Roberto
Mancini, Mark Hughes and Phil Scolari are the top three
favourites to take the vacant Chelsea manager job, according to
media reports and odds, as well. Chelsea sacked manager Avram
Grant just four days ago, after just eight months in charge and
the replacement rumours are circulating in the press, Mancini,
Hughes and Scolari being the three names mentioned most.
According to reports, Roberto Mancini was sacked by Inter
yesterday, after a short meeting with club president Massimo
Moratti, although no official announcement has come out of the
Italian club yet. Roberto Mancini, however, is the favourite to
take Grant's job at Chelsea, according to the British online
bookmaker
Bet 365, who has listed Mancini
with odds 11/8 to be the Blues next manager.
Blackburn manager Mark Hughes comes
second at 7/2 with the bookie to be the next Chelsea manager.
Earlier this year, the former Chelsea striker was one of the
front-runners to succeed Sam Allardyce as Newcastle manager
before Kevin Keegan took the job. And Portugal manager Phil
Scolari is at 5/1 to be offered the job, although he is also
reportedly wanted by Manchester City to replace Eriksson.
According to experts, Guus Hiddink (odds 6/1), Frank Rijkaard
(9/1) and Sven Goran-Eriksson (11/1) are not major contenders to
replace Avram Grant.
