NBA Championship Finals: Odds favor Lakers over Celtics

NBA Championship Finals: Odds favor Lakers over Celtics Now that we know the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics are the two teams going to the 2008 NBA Finals, it's time to look at the odds to win the Championship. And at the online sportsbook Bookmaker, the odds are favoring the Los Angeles Lakers to win the final series and the NBA Championship. The Lakers are listed with odds -161 at the bookie, while the Boston Celtics have long lost their playoff favorite status and are with underdog odds +141 to win the 2008 NBA Finals. Despite the long odds on the Celtics, Boston is favorite to win Game 1 of the NBA Championship, which will take place on June 5th. Overall, the Boston Celtics are favorite with odds -150 to beat the Lakers in Game 1, while Los Angeles are +130 underdog to start the series with a victory. The Celtics are -3 points against the spread and the total betting is sitting at 193.5 points. It's probably worth noting as well that the odds makers at Bookmaker have already made Kobe Bryant the favorite to win the MVP in the NBA finals with odds -175.

For the L.A. Lakers Andrew Bynum is out for the season with knee injury, while in Boston Scot Pollard is also out with ankle injury and guard Tony Allen is day-to-day after an achilles injury. A few stats to take in consideration if betting the odds on the NBA Championship finals - Los Angeles is third in the league in field goal percentage at 47.7. Meanwhile Boston has the second stingiest defence in the league at 90.3 points per game and has the best field goal percentage against in the league allowing 41.9. The Celtics are second in rebounds allowed in the league at 39.1.
