Belmont Stakes
Odds: It's two-horse race, Big Brown v Casino Drive
A
few days away from the 2008 Belmont Stakes post time and odds
are favoring two of the ten contenders in the final Triple Crown
race. At the online sportsbook
Bodog, the odds are heavily on
the side of the Triple Crown hopeful, Big Brown, who had little
trouble zooming past the contenders in both the Kentucky Derby
and the Preakness Stakes. And the small hoof injury did little
to destabilize the confidence of the odds makers in Big Brown,
he is now listed with betting odds 1/3 to win the Belmont Stakes
on Saturday with the bookmaker. Comparing the odds of the
remaining candidates for Belmont glory, it's going to be a
two-horse race folks, only Casino Drive coming close to Big
Brown on the betting sheets. At
Bodog Casino Drive is currently
holding odds 7/2 to win the Belmont Stakes and deny Big Brown
the Triple Crown. Denis of Cork is third with long odds 10/1,
followed by Tale of Ekati at 16/1, the odds on the remaining
Belmont Stakes contenders start at 33/1 all the way to underdog
50/1. And yes, Big Brown is odds favorite to win the Triple
Crown at -300, compared to +220 if he fails to deliver on
Saturday.
The odds on Big Brown to win the Belmont
Stakes this week are so skimpy, the bookie is offering betting
odds on the 2008 Belmont race without the 3-year-old, giving
bettors the chance to see some action by betting on another
horse to finish first or second, rather than risking 3 to win
just one. Naturally Casino Drive is favorite on those odds at
11/10, Denis of Cork would pay out on 4/1 odds if he finishes
second or first and Tail of Ekati is at 6/1.
To make betting more exciting and
interesting, the odds makers at Bodog have posted various props
on the Belmont Stakes race. For example, people can bet on what
will Big Brown's margin of victory in the Belmont Stakes be, 1-5
lengths favorite at 2/9, but with little competition, the 6-10
lengths pays out on just 3/1 odds. Another interesting betting
prop on the Belmont Stakes is which position will Big Brown be
in at the official first quarter mile time of the Belmont
Stakes? Considering the style exhibited so far, no surprise 3rd
through 5th place is favorite with odds 5/7, while 1st or 2nd
place pays even; 6th place or higher would multiply your bet by
14. Visit
Bodog for the complete list of
the 2008 Belmont Stakes odds.
