Idol runner-up
David Archuleta signs with 19 Recordings/Jive
The
runner-up of this year's American Idol, David Archuleta, has
signed a music deal with 19 Recordings/Jive Records, the same
company who signed up winner David Cook. "Signing a record
contract with 19 Recordings/Jive Records is truly a dream come
true. Being a fan of ‘American Idol’ since season one and
admiring the alumni, I am honored and humbled to be a part of
that group. I’m really excited to start working on everything,"
David Archuleta was quoted by Access Hollywood. The 17-year-old
Utah star in the making was the favorite to win American Idol
with the odds makers at
BodogSports all the way until
the last few episodes. Rumors of troubles between 19 Recordings
and Archuleta seem to have been false, after the youngster put
ink on his new contract.
Meanwhile, much to the disappointment to
David Archuleta fans, he will not be going solo anytime soon.
Earlier reports in the media had his father Jeff Archuleta
organizing a solo tour of the Idol finalist, but officials
associated with the "American Idol" concert tour shut the idea
down, claiming a solo concert would drive interest in the
American Idol tour away.
