Belmont Stakes:
Post time, odds, contenders and post position
Today
is the start third and final leg of the Triple Crown, the
Belmont Stakes, and we have all the information you need,
including the latest odds, post time and top contenders.
Beginning with the post time for the 2008 Belmont Stakes - the
race will start at 6:25pm EST and you can watch the race live on
ABC. Initially there were 10 contenders for the Belmont Stakes
yesterday, but early this morning the second favorite (and only
competition to Big Brown) Casino Drive was scratched from the
race after an injury. A stone bruise on Casino Drive's left-hind
hoof was re-aggravated and he will not participate in the race.
So we are now down to only 9 contenders, here is the list,
organized by post position: 1 Big Brown, 2 Guadalcanal, 3 Macho
Again, 4 Denis of Cork, 5 Casino Drive (Scratched from the
race), 6 Da' Tara, 7 Tale of Ekati, 8 Anak Nakal, 9 Ready's Echo
and post position 10 Icabad Crane.
With the departure of Casino Drive, the
race went from two-horse down to just Big Brown and the rest. At
the online sportsbook
BodogSports Big Brown (jokey J.
Desotmeaux) is the ultimate favorite with odds to win the 2008
Belmont Stakes at 2/5. The closest contender to Big Brown (by
odds) is Denis of Cork (ridden by Albarado), listed at the long
12/1, which is the real testament of Big Brown's the high
regards with the odds makers. Tale of Ekati (jokey Coa), Macho
Again (jokey Gomez) and Icabad Crane (jokey J. Rose) are all
listed with odds 20/1 to win the Belmont Stakes. Guadalcanal is
the ultimate underdog of the final Triple Crown race with odds
50/1 and the rest of the Belmont Stakes contenders are sitting
on odds 30/1. The weather should be dry for the start time of
the 2008 Belmont Stakes with a little bit of clouds and a very
small chance of a thunderstorm. Again the Belmont Stakes post
time is 6:25pm EST, watch it on ABC.
