Tiger Woods knee
injury not a problem - U.S. Open favorite
When it comes to the U.S. Open one name comes on
everyone's mind - Tiger Woods. And this year the performance of
the best golfer in the world will endure even more scrutiny,
following his knee injury earlier this year. Fans, bettors, as
well as odds makers are all wondering if Tiger Woods managed to
overcome his knee injury and if he is physically able to take on
the Torrey Pines. The fact that Tiger Woods revealed last night
he has not walked 18 holes since his last round of the Masters
at Augusta National in April, helped none to calm the voices.
"Is my knee fully recovered? Probably not," Woods said
today. Not the answer most have hoped for.
But despite the knee injury and the long
U.S. Open drought, one thing remains constant - Tiger Woods is
the favorite to win. The online sportsbook
BodogSports has listed Tiger
Woods with odds to win the 2008 U.S. Open at 5/2, far, far away
from the second choice - Phil Mickelson, who is sitting on 7/1
to be the Championship winner. But obviously even the odds
makers are approaching this year's U.S. Open with caution - the
usual EVEN odds on the top golfer are a distant memory. At least
the British bookies are treating Woods right - he is 11/4
favorite at U.K.'s
Bet 365. Keep in mind that on Thursday Tiger
Woods will enter longest course in the tournament’s history,
will he be able to win the U.S. Open? You may want to look at
the underdogs...
