Idol winner Ruben
Studdard gets married
Ruben Studdard, the winner of the second season of "American
Idol", got married on Saturday to his longtime girlfriend Surata
Zuri McCants. The marriage between Ruben Studdard, 29, and
Surata McCants, 30, took place at the Canterbury United
Methodist Church in Mountain Brook, Alabama, where, according to
reports, 300 guests were all dressed in black and white. Born
Christopher Ruben Studdard in Frankfurt, Germany, while his
father was stationed there with the U.S. Army, he won the second
season of "American Idol" as 10/13 favorite with the odds
makers, over Clay Aiken, who was 10/11. Studdard met his
girlfriend in 2006, reportedly while signing autographs at a
Wal-Mart. He then followed her into the toy department to ask
for her telephone number. Two years later, the two are tying the
knot. Ruben Studdard has already turned out three albums and the
platinum CD "Soulful" and is currently working on a new album.
