Wimbledon: Bookmakers predict £10m bets on Federer-Nadal final

Wimbledon: Bookmakers predict £10m bets on Federer-Nadal final The 2008 Wimbledon Men final pair is now known - Rodger Federer will face Rafael Nadal in the battle for the Grand Slam title. After the Andy Murray-Rafa Nadal showdown produced Wimbledon's first £8m betting match, bookmakers are predicting that the final between Federer and Nadal will be the first game in tennis history to produce a betting turnover of £10million. "This game has the potential to smash the current record and become the first time that an eight figure sum has been riding on the outcome of a single tennis match" said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe. "You have two of the most popular sportsmen in world sport who look evenly matched about to play a game about which every sports fan will have an opinion as to the outcome. We have already taken bets of £30,000; £25,000 and £15,000 for Federer, and a £10,000 bet for Nadal, who will cost us more if he wins".

Nadal, the four-time French Open champion, has lost to Federer in the last two Wimbledon finals. Maybe this is the main reason the odds makers at the online sportsbook BodogSports have listed Roger Federer as the favorite to win the 2008 Wimbledon final with odds -150. Rafael Nadal is the underdog (when was the last time you've heard this) with odds +110.
