Norway bans online gambling on addiction worries

The European country of Norway has passed a bill to ban online gambling, according to media reports. The approach taken by the Norway government to battle online gambling is similar to the one taken by the U.S. a couple of years ago, namely, putting a stop top the financial transactions to and from the online gambling websites. The politicians in the Scandinavian country have taken the anti-gambling approach as a sure vote-winner, after studies have shown that the introduction of slots machines have led to an increase in gambling addiction. This week the Norway Parliament has taken the issue further by passing a bill that would also forbid companies from operating online gambling websites in the country.
