NFL Point Spreads: Jacksonville vs. Seattle, Falcons vs. 49ers

We begin the Week 5 NFL point spreads and odds preview with two of the football games bound to draw most interest from the bettors, the Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Seattle Seahawks and the Atlanta Falcons @ San Francisco 49ers. Both the Atlanta Falcons (2-1) and the San Francisco 49ers (3-1) are having a great start in the football season and the battle on Sunday is very important to either team. The 49ers will come out following a great 0-35 victory at home last week against the struggling Rams, while the Falcons had two weeks to rest, which certainly works in their advantage. On the other side we have two struggling football teams, the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-2) will travel to face off the Seattle Seahawks (1-3) on Sunday, both teams needing a W badly.

So lets take a look at the NFL point spreads and betting lines on these two games, as posted by the popular online sportsbook Bookmaker. Starting with the Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Seattle Seahawks, we find that the home team is a slight favorite to win the Sunday football game, although not by much. At Bookmaker the Seahawks are holding on to -120 odds to win the game, while the Jaguars are currently paying out on even odds. The Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Seattle Seahawks point spread is at -1 point chalk the Seahawks, a point spread sure to attract many wise bettors, while the total expected by the bookmaker is set at 44 points. Keep in mind that Seattle is 1-4 against the spread in its last 5 games and the total has gone OVER in 4 of Jacksonville's last 5 games when playing the Seahawks. In Jacksonville safety Sean Considine, defensive tackle Greg Peterson, linebacker Adam Seward and cornerback Scott Starks are all out for Week 5 football with injuries, while the rest of the players on the Jaguars injury list were upgraded to probable for the game against the Seahawks this Sunday. Meanwhile in Seattle linebacker LeRoy Hill and tackles Walter Jones and Sean Locklear are out for the game against the Jaguars, while defensive end Patrick Kerney remains questionable.

Moving on to the next game on our NFL point spreads preview sheet, the match-up between the Atlanta Falcons and the San Francisco 49ers. The story is slightly similar here - the host San Francisco is a small favorite, sitting on -140 odds to win the game and the Falcons are underdog with odds +120 on victory. The Atlanta Falcons vs. San Francisco 49ers point spread is posted at -2.5 points chalk the 49ers with the total expected by the odds makers set at 40 points. Betting trends on the two NFL teams in question show that San Francisco is 13-6 against the spread in its last 19 games when playing Atlanta and the Falcons have covered the spread only once out of the last 9 games when playing on the road against the San Francisco 49ers. Also keep in mind that the total has gone UNDER in 4 of San Francisco's last 5 games when playing at home against Atlanta. As mentioned earlier, the Atlanta Falcons had plenty of time to recover and only safety Antoine Harris is out for Week 5, still nursing a knee injury. Meanwhile in San Francisco running back Frank Gore, safety Reggie Smith and linebacker Jeff Ulbrich are out with injuries, while another linebacker, Marques Harris, remains questionable for the game against the Falcons.
