NFL point spreads:
Saints vs. Eagles, Panthers vs. Falcons spread
We continue our Week 2 NFL point spread and odds preview
with two of the most bet one games, the New Orleans Saints vs.
Philadelphia Eagles and the Carolina Panthers vs. Atlanta
Falcons match-ups. The Atlanta Falcons (1-0) clearly showed that
they have shaken off the Vick troubles when they made it to the
playoffs last season and this year Atlanta is showing yet again
that there is a good chance to play postseason again. At the
season opener last week the Falcons showed no fear against the
Dolphins beating Miami 7-19. The other part in the southern
derby, the Carolina Panthers (0-1) were no match for the
Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) at home, taking a 38-10 beating at
Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. And speaking of the
Eagles, their Week 2 football game against the New Orleans
Saints (1-0) is currently the most bet on event at the popular
online sportsbook
Bookmaker with the majority of
the bettors taking New Orleans, a true testament for the
readiness of the Saints to face off the Eagles on the road.
But let's get right to the point - the
point spread and odds on the NFL games this Sunday. Starting
with the New Orleans Saints vs. Philadelphia Eagles, we see
numbers we have not seen in a long time. At the online
sportsbook Bookmaker, the Saints are actually the odds-on
favorite sitting on -125 line, while the Philadelphia Eagles
will come out on Lincoln Financial Field as underdog with +105
odds to win the NFL game. The New Orleans Saints vs.
Philadelphia Eagles point spread is currently favoring the
Saints at -1.5 points and the total expected by the sports
betting website is posted at 45 points even. When betting the
NFL spreads and odds, keep in mind that Philadelphia is 4-1
against the spread in its last 5 games at home and 7-1 against
the spread in its last 8 games when playing the New Orleans
Saints. Meanwhile New Orleans has lost 7 of their last 9 games
on the road.
Injuries are indeed the culprit for the
Eagles - quarterback Donovan McNabb is doubtful for Sunday and
new sign Michael Vick remains suspended until Week 3. Eagles
linebacker Joe Mays and safety Quintin Demps are out for the
Sunday NFL game, although wide receivers Kevin Curtis and DeSean
Jackson, along with tackles King Dunlap and Winston Justice were
upgraded to probable for the game against the Saints. Meanwhile
at New Orleans tight end Darnell Dinkins is out for NFL week 2
football, while questionable for the game against the Eagles
remain defensive tackle Kendrick Clancy and running back Pierre
Thomas.
Moving on to the southern match-up and
the point spread and betting odds on the Carolina Panthers vs.
Atlanta Flacons NFL game from Week 2. At
Bookmaker the odds are heavily
stacked against the Panthers, who will come out as big underdog
with +220 odds to win their second game of the football season.
The Falcons on the other side are big favorite this week,
sitting on -260 odds to win the game on Sunday. The Carolina
Panthers vs. Atlanta Falcons point spread is currently at -6
points chalk the Falcons and the total posted by the sportsbook
is at 42.5 points. Betting trends on the two teams show that
Atlanta is 7-3 against the spread in its last 10 games at home
and Carolina is 3-8-2 against the spread in its last 13 games
when playing on the road against the Falcons. Also, the total
has gone OVER in 4 of Atlanta's last 5 games when playing at
home against the Panthers. Injuries do not appear to be the
problem for the Falcons - after defensive tackle Peria Jerry was
upgraded to probable for the Sunday NFL game, only safety
William Moore remains questionable. In Carolina DT Nick Hayden
and safety Chris Harris were listed as doubtful for the game
against the Falcons, while defensive ends Everette Brown and
Charles Johnson, along with running back Jonathan Stewart were
upgraded to probable for the Sunday football game against the
Falcons.
