Poker: Types of poker players

Gambling doesn’t need to just be based on pure chance. There are also certain strategies that you can employ in order to increase your amount of winning. Have you ever watched people playing poker? If yes, are your perceptive enough to note the relationship between the cash that the person has acquired and the manner by which the person plays?

If you will observe closely, the people who have already won in the preceding hands and therefore have more money than what they originally have were more relaxed as compared to people who have short stacks. One explanation for this is that people who already have “winnings”, tend to feel that they are not using their money anymore and is not afraid to take their chance to amass a greater amount of winnings. People who already have winnings will stay on the table which makes them loose their winnings subsequently. On the other hand, people who have a short stack, tend to show hesitation to lay down their cash. They would normally leave after one game. There are also some instances when short stacks tend to fold even if they are supposed to call depending on the pot. You know that these people are novice when you see them displaying these behaviors.

Unlike the novice player whose behavior is dependent on the losses and winnings, a disciplined poker player plays consistently on the same style throughout the session. You have to be aware of the behaviors that people display so you can position yourself to adopt a consistent behavior. This way, you can take better control of the situation and you are increasing your chances of winning. As poker is a game of chance it is not guaranteed that you will win. Sometimes you also loose the winnings if you get too greedy. Therefore, there is a necessity to protect the winnings so it can be your profit. Control yourself from betting your winnings again and again. It is very tempting to bet your winnings because you are highly motivated by the fact that it might result to more winnings.

Another way of protecting yourself from losing the money that you won is by employing an exit strategy. You can do this by setting a limitation to yourself. Like for example, you can put a cap that if you have already double your money, you are going to move on to another table or quit.
Another strategy that you can use is by keeping your winnings in an account (such as a Neteller) while you just keep a revolving fund that you can use while you are on the game site. This way, you will not be tempted to play in the higher tables. Having knowledge on the level of cash that you have affects your decisions when playing. Remember that your aim in the game is to have winnings. You can only have winnings if you are able to manage your cash well. With a little strategizing, you will be able to convert your winnings into profits no matter how small the winnings are. There are 4 types of poker players:

1. Tight Passive
2. Tight Aggressive
3. Loose Passive
4. Loose Aggressive

These are the most common behaviors exhibited by poker players, but not their true selves. Below are a couple of fallacies regarding this justification. None of the adjectives used describe poker players. They actually define his or her identity when viewed from the perspective of cards. It is inaccurate to call a player by how he plays. That would be like calling a kite the wind – but the kite is just proof of the wind, not the wind itself. Every best poker website player, one time or the other, believes that the poker chips represent one of three things: cash, weapons (tools) or time and these motivate their actions on the poker table. As human beings, players too are motivated by desire and it is that desire which keeps us going.

Chips as Cash - These include those poker players who want big winnings and quick games. They are fast, participating in every hand and are looking to win.

Chips as Weapons - These include those poker players who like to take it easy, analyzing and studying the surrounds, studying their opponents and then proceeding carefully. They may not even play the first dozen or so hands, instead spending that time learning other players strategies.

Chips as Time - These include those players who spend their time having fun – whether talking, drinking or engaging in conversation. They are the ones who make it a point to know their opponents names and hang in the game for as long as they possibly can.

Keep in mind that not every one is smart – there are many stupid poker players. When one starts to believe that someone else is smarter than him, they’ve lost already. Just try to concentrate on each player, studying their every move, their every desire. See why they’re doing what they’re doing. What motivates them? Is it time, cash or tools? Do they seem happy, upset, low or unaffected? Poker is all about learning the silent cues and if you master that, you’ve got it made! It’s not as much about the cards you’re dealt, as it is about how you play with those cards. You can turn a losing hand into a winning one, and a winning hand into a longing one with a little bit of clever strategizing. If you learn to read your opponents properly, you can win more hands than you lose. Poker is a game of luck but intelligence is an asset, and if you’ve got it, use it to your advantage. If you want to make big bucks in this game of chance, focus and pay attention to what is happening around you!
