Summer Olympics
2012: Swimming odds (Men)
There
is little doubt that when it comes to the 2012 Summer Olympics,
a lot of eyes will be turned to the men swimming competitions,
where the USA is holding great odds to rake up the gold medals.
In addition, we will enjoy the friendly battle between Ryan
Lochte and Michael Phelps. Between these two athletes, USA is
expecting to get a full set of medals when it comes to the men
swimming challenges.
And of course, we will look at the
betting odds on the Olympic swimming at the betting websites.
Starting with the interesting battle between Lochte and Phelps,
we checked the odds at the popular online sportsbook
Bovada ($500 bonus for new customers),
where the Men's 400m Individual Medley odds are as follows:
Ryan Lochte (USA) 8/11
Michael Phelps (USA) 1/1
Laszlo Cseh (HUN) 22/1
Yuya Horihata (JPN) 33/1
Kosuke Hagino (JPN) 40/1
Chengxiang Wang (CHN) 66/1
Thomas Fraser-Holmes (AUS) 80/1
Zhixian Yang (CHN) 100/1
As you can see from the Olympics
swimming odds above, Lochte is slightly edging out Phelps for
this gold medal, but betting on either one is bringing very
small payouts. Phelps, however, is the top favorite to win the
Men's 200m Butterfly with odds 1/5, i.e. people must wager $5 to
win just $1, while Lochte is the favorite to win the Men's 200m
Backstroke with odds 4/11. The pattern has emerged, however,
that when these two USA athletes meet in an Olympic competition,
Lochte is the favorite. Another example is the Men's 200m
Individual Medley, where Ryan Lochte holds the best odds on gold
at 4/5, while Michael Phelps pays out on 11/10.
Needless to say, USA remains the top
odds favorite to win all the relays in the swimming competitions
at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Visit Bovada to see the full list
of betting odds on the swimming competitions at this year's
Summer Olympics.
